I have just finished to read my first book yesterday afternoon when I was at work. I found interesting to hear about children's voices regarding their issue based on the fact that one of their parents was gay (either dad or mom). I really enjoyed reading those witnesses because that allow to me having an opinion regarding my research on gay parent and their influence on their children's sexual orientation. However, what I do not understand from all stories are the following points they have all in common.
First, all parents were married, have children, and then divorced because they have to follow their orientation. On other words, it was time for them to be happy and now for real. So, they realized that OK they have another sexual orientation and so? what they did not think about it before getting married?
Why waiting during so long to get happy one day? why lying to yourself? Live in a fake live and try to have a family they do not belong to? ( I means everyone has the right to create his own type of family but what I say is that why hurting others?).
Second, most parents are in the 37 to 40 ages. It is during this average of age that they realize it.
Why they accept to have in a fake life for so long? Did they think about those children and wives and husbands left behind?
I want say that they have to live also for the rest of their life to other and make them happy that will be no fair. What I try to find is a way to avoid so much wastes for nothing.
Those are the type of question I would like to answers next.
Also, I would like to make more research on the following other points.
1. Those children suffer a lot because of the society around of them which was completely ignorant and fake.
2. They do not "know" if they will be gay tomorrow even if they respond clearly by saying I am " Straight." All they feel is the pain their parents went over because of their sexual orientation. They said they are straight because and I am pretty sure that it is because of the fact that their parents hard time to be accepted by the society. In fact they do not want to go over it again because that hard time they had to face it too.
3. There is an eventual consequence which may occurs in those children' lives ( who have a gay parent) because their parents wait until getting around 40 years old to be free, and they may wait also around the same age to declare their real sexuality.
4. They suffered a lot from their peers judgments a the religion which banish this type of sexual act. Children were unable to talk to people in their surrounding because they did not want anyone about what was happening in their life at this time at school.
In sum, that is a great book but I need more information. For instance, researching around of people of 37 or 40 years old to above who had or have a gay parents and see if we can answer to questions stated above.

Just start reading the first book among others I chose as references for my research
This morning, as I did not have nothing much to do, I started my first reading on a book entitled" How it feels to have a gay or lesbian parent." It is a book written by Judith E. Snow, MA. and based on children experiences who face situation as having Gay or Lesbian parents.
Why I started from this book? because I believe it will help find strong arguments on my topic and since my subject is dealing with children thoughts based on their parents influence I think it is a good starting point. The first pages look good. I am so excited to finish it and tell you if my reading provide to me good points allowing me to advance on my research...

My OPAC experience...
I am back after a long week of reflexion, I have definitely choose my topic and I will stay with what I assumed to be true.
1) The topic I have chosen to research on and learn more about is that gay parents have an influence on the sexual orientation of their children. I am really curious about how this assumption is correct or not.
2) I am looking for information specifically dealing with gay parents in Minnesota. However I think I am going to start searching general information regarding the topic first and then narrow it as I will go because It always good to start with a brainstorming on a topic and then as you research more on the topic you eliminate what bad and too broad and keep what good so you will be able to have specific information on the topic.
3) The following steps are the string about I have found my book.
a.went to the library homepage and chose to do an advanced search on gay parent and their life in family.
b. I chose English for my language and for format I chose Books and Ebooks. However, I did not select anything under the collections section.
c. Then, I searched Gay parent & their children sexuality. First i did found 30 sources relate to my topic and then because I wanted to be specific i did refine the topic under Sexual behavior and Psychology. From that I found 5 sources among books and Ebooks. Actually it was hard for me to find a specific information on a certain region I want. I look like to have information of gay parents in Minnesota but I only find two in Latino Community which was not very helpful to me.
d. I export only 3 of them to my RefWorks. Then I went to look up on the selves book, with the call number, where I could find the one I found the most interesting based on the summary and description the website had posted on each resource.
4) & 5) When looking for the Ebook sources I found one based on my findings, However, It was difficult to me to read on the screen because I am wearing a contact glasses. I was not comfortable with it and I can tell the traditional print book is worthly for me and I kind of like it better because I can read on it more easily.
6) I do not have a mobile device that allows me to read an EBook and I suppose it may be helpful to people who are using it.
7) I found the both sites to be the same, however I kind of prefer the one from the Miller Center Library because it is the one I am more familiar with. I used the same string to find sources on my topic. First, I went to advanced search, then typed in my keywords and I was able to find 12 books from the website. Also out of those 12 boolks I found 1 of the same I found at Miller Center Library. The book I found interesting about the topic is : " Daddy, Papa, and me by Leslea Newman; illustrated by Carol Thompson. The only problem with this source I was not able to know how to get it...
In sum That was a good experience even if I was able to find what I was looking for right away... I learn a lot on my topic and hope to continue doing it furthermore.

I am searching my topic...
What next? I still think about my topic... Sorry it may take one or two days again but I promise at the end of this week I will have everything done and then I will let you know what I consider to be true about...

What Do You Assume to Be True About?
what is the truth?
Truth is not an idea, is not a feeling. There is not an absolute Truth. Truth has a variety of meanings and sometimes people say that what true is what you are thinking about! this is true? who knows....
For me, what I believe or assume is true should be based on statistics because human beings are the ones who make societies laws. I will say what true is what most people think (more than 80 to 90 %).
I would like to challenge myself about what I suspect to be true about Gay's children. I think that by accepting that gay couples raise children increase the number of this population in our society. The augmentation of this minority of persons will or not affect us in some points in the future.
It is my personal point of view. I believe it because human beings adapt themselves to their surrounding and thus having children in a family Gay will not give them the choice to end up in relationships other than the ones where they grow up.
I hope I will found good sources to argue my opinion by being a critical thinker. I am really sure it will be exciting and challenging to find those resources. I will do my best since I have the certitude that what is not considerate as normal in a healthy society is considerate as normal in a unhealthy society.

What is Critical Thinking?
We are all the same even if we are into different bodies. When I am talking about be "the same" I am thinking about having the same functional organs inside of our bodies. The only difference is the skin layer which cover that all system. Because of it we have to think in a critical way and not in a subjective way. The first time I have learnt and I heard about why and how to think critically was four years ago. It was when I started the college during my first semester as a freshman at St Cloud State University in an introduction to Philosophy class.
I believe critical thinking is a reasoning process reflecting on ideas acting and decisions in intellectuals experience. It is thinking by being rational.
Many people have they own way to define this concept, however, all definition of critical thinking have to be related at a certain point. As Kerry S. Walters says in his book entitled " the journal of Higher education":
"Critical Thinking is a technique that schools students in the rational justification of beliefs by providing a set of rules with which to analyse propositional arguments."
Thinking with rationality follow a method and strategy which starts by a step and follow others as well. IM 204 Research Strategies will help us getting this methods by teaching us the first step which is to look for sources and then compare and contrast what are found, follow a choice among the best which will help to argue and dispute our opinion. On other hand, learn how to think.
